No Proof of Repentance from Dead Works: Repentance or turning away from sin is the first fruit of salvation. Once this fruit is not there you have definitely not gone through the salvation experience. The injunction has been “Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Act 2:38). Now what are the signs of repentance? You detest and loathe the sinful lifestyle you have been living and then seek for mercy to be forgiven. That is why many of these, “say after me” salvation prayer will not give true salvation except the person has been first convicted of sin by the Holy Spirit (John 16:8).
